overview

Worked nearly end-to-end on this one: UI/UX design, photography, VFX, and SEO/GEO/AEO; for Mt. Pleasant Citizens' Climate Lobby, the local chapter of Citizens' Climate Lobby and Citizens' Climate Education, a nonpartisan, volunteer-led nonprofit that builds political will for climate solutions like the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act. The Mt. Pleasant chapter's been doing that work on the ground since 2013, organizing the community and meeting with local leaders across the political spectrum. Redesigned their site from the ground up with both the internal group and the public in mind, built accessible and findable first throughout, and gave them a backend simple enough that non-technical members can keep content current on their own.

total facelift

Rebuilt the site from the ground up with two audiences in mind: the members who run chapter business day to day, and the community members finding the group for the first time. Swapped the static hero for a content slider that spotlights more than one message up top, modernized the visual design, and rebuilt the navigation around what people actually come looking for. Accessible and findable first throughout, so the facelift never came at the cost of usability.

custom user-friendly backend form

Built a simple, icon-based dashboard so non-technical chapter members can add events, post impact stories, upload meeting minutes, and drop in new media without touching code or waiting on a developer. Paired it with built-in how-to video guides so anyone on the steering committee can pick it up and start publishing. Accessible and findable first, both for the members using the backend and the visitors who see what it publishes.

device optimization

Every template was built mobile-first and tested across phone, tablet, and desktop, since most visitors are catching chapter news and events from their phone between other things. Layouts, tap targets, and navigation adapt by screen size rather than just shrinking down, so the site stays just as accessible and findable on a phone as it is at a desk.

local chapter events

Built a calendar that puts upcoming events and chapter meetings front and center, with a one-click way for visitors to add any event straight to their own calendar. Designed to match the visual language of the national CCL chapter calendar, so it feels like part of the same organization while staying the local group's own space. Accessible and findable first, so events don't get missed.

impacts

Gave the group a place to show, not just tell, what the local chapter's actually accomplished — posts that pair commentary with photos and video from real events, like the community tree dedication, and link back to related coverage elsewhere on the site. Built accessible and findable first, so the group's impact is as easy to discover as it is to read.
